Today we headed out in the country a bit for a visit to the Round Hill Farm. It's a working, exhibit farm where you can take a self-guided tour to see the animals. There's a big pond when you first drive in, with a bunch of ducks and geeese. The kids were braved and marched right up to feed them the bread we'd brought. Braver than I was! They also have sheep, cows, horses, chickens, pigs and even bunny rabbits. It was really picturesque and beautiful, with the green rolling hills that Pennsylvania is known for. The weather could not have been more perfect and it was a great day to be outside soaking it up. The kids had fun checking out the animals and afterward we had fun at the splash pad they have on the grounds. The water was garden hose temperature (read: frigid, arctic) but no one seemed to mind. Even Tate was getting in on the action and found a little friend his age to pal around with. We splashed for a bit, then headed over to find a picnic spot and have lunch. We managed to have our fun and scoot out of there before the buses started dropping off the summer camp kids. Everyone enjoyed it, and was well behaved and quiet on the car ride. It's the kind of day that really makes me appreciate summer (and cancel out the hard days)!
