Summertime and the livin' is easy

The summer heat in Nashville is almost unbearable. It was a balmy 95 degrees in the shade this weekend so we did the only thing we could in this sweltering heat – we went for a swim. If there’s one thing we know about our little fish, it’s that he hates cold water. I took him swimming in a friend’s pool last week and it was so cold, the poor little guy clung to me for dear life, trying to keep any of his body parts from touching the water. Our pool is still a bit nippy, but we decided to go for it anyway, figuring the blistering sun would warm us up. The baby pool was surprisingly cold, despite the fact that it is only a foot deep and has probably seen its fair share of pee, so we decided to take a dip in the big pool. After a few minutes, our bodies adjusted and it was quite refreshing.

On Sunday, we met our friends Jeff and Paige for brunch at the Loveless CafĂ©. You can always count on the Loveless for some good ‘ol fashioned down-home country cookin’. The fresh baked biscuits and homemade jam are worth the hour wait it takes to get a table. It was a nice way to celebrate Father’s Day for Dayven and an early celebration for Jeff, as Paige is pregnant and their little guy is due to arrive the third week in August.

Tomorrow Wyatt and I are off to Florida to see Nana and Poppy (my folks), Uncle Josh and Granny. It’s our first solo trip so it will be interesting to maneuver through the airport with a baby, stroller, diaper bag, suitcase and car-seat. Thank goodness the airport has valet parking! Stay tuned to hear all about our adventures…
