Happy Easter!

It's been another weeklong celebration surround a holiday. I guess this is now a recurring theme.

The kids both had Easter parties at school with a few goodies, songs and crafts. Wyatt's class had a viewing of Peter Rabbit and a visit from the Easter bunny. I don't know who this high school kid is that dresses up, but he's a great sport. He did a fabulous impersonation of Buddy the elf at Christmas. It adds another fun element that the kids get a kick out of.

Hadley goes to Christian school so her celebrations are more about Jesus than the bunny. They still had a party with games and treats, but they talked a lot about Jesus and did a cute craft to symbolize the meaning of the holiday.
Imagine seeing all the kids from Wyatt's class come out of school on party day wearing these. It was like a troupe of bunny bandits!
We colored eggs at home and it went pretty well. The kids enjoyed it and were more careful than I had expected. After being sternly warned of the staining properties of dye and the importance of being careful, I think they were a little scared. Barely a drop was spilled. They were excited to see how their colors turned out. Something went awry with the pink one and not a lick of color stuck to the eggs. Go figure. Hadley was a little disappointed since pink is her favorite color but she forgot and moved on quickly.

Nana and Poppy sent a box of Easter goodies and the kids had fun going through the loot. Tate was trying to eat the candies wrapper and all. He also had his first taste of Peeps and I think he was pretty impressed. We may have another sweet tooth on our hands!

We had our egg hunt inside this year due partly to the weather, but mostly due to the fact that we really have no vegetation to hide eggs in anyway. There are many more places to hide them inside. The Easter Bunny set out all the goodies (she really skimped this year). There was barely anything for poor Tate! Since he can't really eat candy yet, there wasn't much for him to open. He didn't seem to mind. The kids woke bright and early and tore around the house looking for the eggs. There is a special egg with each child's name on it that contains an extra special prize. They had a little trouble finding them since they were hidden in harder spots and needed a few hints. They were done finding them all and had emptied the contents of their baskets before Tate even got up. He picked the wrong day to sleep in! I just couldn't hold them off to wait for him. Hadley graciously offered to hide a couple of eggs for Tate to find. He was so distracted by the pile of goods on the coffee table he never even looked for them. His eggs contained puffs and Cherrios. He was not impressed. We caught him sneaking more than one jelly bean and M&M. It's a wonder he didn't choke. The miniature princess high heels are missing from the set that Hadley got. We may see them in a few days in his diaper.

Caught with melting chocolate dripping from his mouth!
Not exactly Pinterest worthy, but fun to make! (blue mouth courtesy of blue raspberry ringpop)
We had a casual Easter dinner of ham, mashed potatoes, salad and deviled eggs. I learned my lesson from Thanksgiving. Less is more. We didn't make it to church this year, but we have so many wonderful blessings to be grateful for. God is good!

Happy Easter!

Love those blue lips!! Those chicks in the plate were precious.Brendan took his bucket and picked his eggs up, shook them, discovered candy inside!! He did about fill his bucket with eggs then decided it was more fun to dump them out. He was quite entertaining for all of us grand parents. (3 sets of us)It got to 70 that day, so beautiful, after our meal we sat on the front porch and enjoyed the day.
