Shake Shake Shake, Senora

Wyatt and I have been taking "Salsa Tots", mom and tot salsa dancing lessons once a week. It's a very fun class made up of about 15 other tots of various ages and their parents. Our teacher, Miss Riana, leads the class to funky kid's latin music. Some of the dances are more structured with special "moves" that we all do together, and other times we have "free dance" where you can just be free to express yourself and let the rhythm move you. Wyatt's version of dancing (I'm using the term loosely here) consists mostly of shifting from one foot to the other, sometimes in a circle, and occasionally clapping his hands, but never on the beat. Sometimes he participates in the dances and other times, he just stares at the other kids with a mixed look of bewilderment and confusion on his face and leaves me dancing all alone, feeling only slightly foolish. When he gets tired of dancing altogether, he wanders around the room, looking for trouble in other peoples' purses. The teacher says not to get discouraged. It's only his second lesson and he one of the youngest ones so he may take a little longer to warm up to the idea. We've been listening to the CD in the car and practicing at home, so we'll see... Ay carumba!
