We started off the Easter festivities on Good Friday with a party hosted by Dayven's boss's wife. She put together a fun little event in her basement for all the kids to celebrate Easter. It was quite a shindig - there was a make your own Easter craft, a cookie decorating activity, followed by an Easter egg hunt outside. She even had a little goody bag for everyone to take home filled with fun treats! The kids all had a ball and hopefully she didn't find too many grubby handprints or cookie sprinkles left behind.
Friday night, we hired a sitter and headed downtown for a little birthday dinner out. Nate and Dorothy both had birthdays within the past week as well so they joined us for the celebration. We went to a fun, trendy restaurant and enjoyed a nice dinner and cocktails. They had quite a drink menu and everyone had fun sampling their muddled cocktails with fresh fruit (a virgin Mojito for me), the boys had martinis and of course Dayven finished off the evening with a nice glass of Cognac. Why not when you have a designated driver, right?

Saturday, we met Nate and Dorothy and the kids at Holy Family Catholic Church for blessing of the Easter basket ceremony. We're not Catholic, but I think this is a fun tradition and wanted to participate. It's just a short service where the priest blesses everyone's baskets and their contents. People prepare very elaborate baskets with special breads, sausages, eggs and wine - all things they will consume on Easter.
Auntie Milli and Auntie Suzanne (two of Karen's friends) sent Easter packages for Wyatt filled with all sorts of fun goodies - Thomas toys, a Thomas watch and guitar, some candy (which mommy enjoyed), a toy for Finley and a Broncos outfit for Winston, his build-a-bear. Karen always used to send an outfit for Winston so this was a fun addition to the package.
I decided I wasn't up for braving the church crowds on Easter morning so we relaxed at home in our PJs and Dayven cooked a nice breakfast for us. We hid a few more eggs for Wyatt, so he could have a mini-hunt on is own, with no one to compete for eggs. He's not a big fan of sweets so I stuffed his eggs with stickers and fruit snacks. The grand prize egg contained a "loonie" - a Canadian $1 coin. He wasn't very interested in the hunt and after finding two eggs, he wandered off into the garage to find his outdoor toys instead. Dayven and I ended up "finding" the rest and adding them to his basket. We had the traditional Easter meal of ham and potatoes that evening.
The weather was gorgeous all weekend so we enjoyed as much outdoor time as we could - we took walks to the park, played in the yard with Finley and even broke out the sidewalk chalk. Hope you all had a lovely Easter!
