Show and Tell Day

Wyatt's class is learning about the history of Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims and Indians this month. Each child was asked to bring a Native American artifact to show the class and we had just the perfect thing. This face/mask was found on Fishhook Ranch in Colorado, back in 1956. Dayven's grandfather Hal Johnston owned the ranch and one of his workers discovered it when digging on the property, along with some arrowheads. It is thought to be of Indian origin and made in the likeness of an actual person. It weighs a ton so we sent him to school with a picture to show, rather than the actual face. The teachers thought it was very cool. He told the class it was the Statue of Liberty so clearly he wasn't listening when I gave him the history. It was still a pretty neat show and tell object!

Pictured is Chuck Johnston (Dayven's dad) as a small boy holding the rock.

That is such a neat story for show and tell. Such a keep sake also. You sure can tell Wyatt is Johnston. They look so much alike at least at that age. A museum would like to get their hands on that piece of art! Lucky You.
