School Holiday Celebrations...

The festivities are already happening this week at school. Hadley's class had their special Thanksgiving program today in the church at school. All the parents and grandparents were there. It was absolutely packed with people draping coats over chairs to save seats and standing room only in the back. Once the program started, that annoying thing that happens during a sporting event where someone in front stands up, then everyone is forced to stand up to see so you're all standing there watching the scene. In the end, the best spot in the house ended up being standing in back. Now that we've got the scoop we'll be ahead of the game for the Christmas show.

Despite all that, the show was adorable.  Hadley's class was dressed as Native Americans (in costumes they made) and the 4 year old class was dressed as pilgrims. I was amazed at how well all the kids remembered their lines and songs. Hadley wasn't her usual chipper self. It may have been overwhelming with all the people, or maybe she was having trouble finding us in the crowd and thought we didn't show. She seemed a little distracted, but said she had fun and was very happy to see us at the end. It was cute to see all the kids up there, happily singing, swaying, clapping and fidgeting away. Dayven commented that he hadn't seen that much nose picking in quite a while!

Wyatt's class had a celebration today at well, but parents weren't invited, just the kids. They had a big Thanksgiving "feast" of turkey roll-ups, stuffing, apples, jello, juice and "cornucopia" desserts made by the kids (graham crackers, frosting and Trix cereal - quite a combination!)  They wore their pilgrim outfits they made and sang some songs. He had a great time and he's been telling everyone "Happy Thanksgiving!" all day. He also got to bring home "Butterfingers", the class pet for the weekend. It's a small stuffed giraffe that each child gets to bring home. They are required to write in the journal (or have their parents write it) and add pictures to show how he spent his weekend.

We're looking forward to celebrating American Thanksgiving for the first time in 5 years. Canadians
celebrate it too, but it's not as big of a deal up there. It will be nice to have a few days off from school/work and enjoy it together as a family.

So happy to hear their Thanksgiving songs. They memorize so quickly. I wish I could do that again!! Little Tate reminds me of your brother so much. He'll soon be walking. Our great grandson was a year yesterday and he's been walking good now for a couple weeks.
