1st Day of School!

Wyatt had his first day of school this week. I'll be driving him down to school (40 minutes each way) until we're in our new house and can take the bus. We have 2 1/2 hours to kill while he's in school so we'll be getting to know our new area very well.

The first day of school was only an hour long and I went with him so it wasn't a true trial run. Dayven met us at the school and took the little kids to a nearby park for an hour. The second day I drove through the "car rider" circle, where all the parents drive through. The teachers, principal, aides and staff are all quickly grabbing kids from cars and sending them on their way. There are a ton of parents driving through but it seems to run smoothly. There are 12 buses that deposit kids at the front door and colored lanyards with photo IDs help the staff figure out which way to send them. With 750 kids, they have a lot of strict processes in place. It runs like a well oiled machine. The first couple of days seemed to go OK. I'm sure we'll have some bumps along the way but hopefully once he gets the routine down it will be easier for all of us.

Hadley was upset that she couldn't go to school with him. She's in such a hurry. He was a little disappointed she couldn't go too and asked me several times if she could come. She helped him gather up his stuff and get his backpack on though and gave him a big hug. She can't wait for her first day next week. We went to pick out a special treat at the candy store after we picked him up.
