Last week in Canada!

We've packed a lot into our final week in Canada. It's been go go go every day. I understand now why another Cat wife (whose family has moved many times) said she prefers to move mid year. I always thought you'd want the kids to start the school year fresh but you can definitely get a lot more done when they're busy in school. With everyone home and looking for things to do, it's best to keep busy before boredom/trouble sets in!

We've had a couple of fun picnics in the park which the kids love. We pack a lunch, they play until their hot and sweaty, we eat and head home for Tate's nap. It's the perfect way to burn off some energy and get us out of the house for a couple of hours.
We've been filling the baby pool and the kids spend most every afternoon in there cooling off. It's way too small for both of them, but they don't complain. I ordered a larger one and had it shipped to the summer house. This one will be passed down to Tate. At least it's cool! We've been having record heat (33C) this week and we don't have air conditioning. It's a "dry heat" but it's still pretty hot for us since we're unaccustomed to hot weather.  It's just a reminder of the fact that we'll be melting in PA!

The rest of the week has been filled with "one last ____" (fill in the blank). We've had playdates, girls nights, going away parties, friends stopping by to say a final farewell. It's one of my other least favorite things about moving - all the goodbyes. It's so sad to say goodbye to so many wonderful friends, wondering when/if we'll see them again. Our neighbor friends invited us to enjoy some time in their pool. Hadley is a little more timid, but Wyatt is a fish and loves to swim. It was the perfect way to cool off from this heat!

The rest of the week has been phone calls and logistics for the move. We took Finley to get his vaccines and international travel certificate so he's ready to cross the border. We've had haircuts, final doctor appts, prescription refills and preparing our stuff for the move. We've been boxing refrigerator and pantry items, cleaning products and propane tanks that can't make the move and pawning them off on neighbors and friends, emptying all of our gas powered items of gasoline and continuing to add to the "summer house" pile. It's crunch time now so the next couple of days will be very busy. My mom's travel plans were derailed yesterday with the storms so she was stuck in Tampa. She arrives today at noon and we're so excited to see her. I hope she's ready for the chaos she's walking into!
