This past weekend, headed down with some friends to check out the Street Performer's Festival in downtown Edmonton. We thought the kids would get a kick out of riding the LRT (light rail train) and they did. It lets off at Sir Winston Churchill Square, right in the center of the action. It's a small festival, with various performers ranging from Hip Hop dancers and sword jugglers to Chinese acrobats performing for a crowd of people, then passing the hat for tips. We all liked the Hip Hop dancers the best - the kids were grooving along to the beat! They have some fun activities set up for kids and plenty of fair-type food (oh how I love you, mini donuts!). The kids were upset we wouldn't let them wade in the Legislature Fountain (a popular activity for kids in the summer), but we didn't bring a change of clothes and knew they'd be soaked. The weather was gorgeous and we couldn't have asked for a better day. The kids were wiped out by the time we took the train home.

The rest of the weekend was gorgeous as well and we kept busy. We attended a going away party for some friends who are moving back to the states. We played outside in our yard and ate all of our meals out there - soaking up as much vitamin D as we could. Some friends invited us for a swim in their pool, which was so refreshing. Swimming outside in Canada is a rare treat! Fingers crossed this nice weather will continue this week!
