Good friends...Good times...

We had our first official house guests this weekend. Charlie, Marta and Aniela drove down from Fort MacMurray to do some shopping and spend a little quality time with us. It was so great to see them and as always, we laughed a lot and had fun catching up. Friday night after we put the kiddies to bed, the boys polished off some scotch and Marta and I enjoyed a little wine. We stayed up way too late and were all a little tired the next morning...but not our little alarm clocks. They were up bright and early and ready to play. Dayven cooked us his famous pancakes for breakfast and we loaded them up for a day "out and aboat" (about), as the Canucks say. We went out to lunch and perused IKEA and Mountain Equipment Coop (Canada's version of REI). Saturday night, we threw on a pot of chili for dinner and the kids had their first bath together. After we put them down to pay their visit to the sandman, the big kids hit the hot tub. It was a crisp clear night and the temperature of the water was perfect. Charlie turned us on to "Rickard's Red", a locally brewed Canadian favorite and we relaxed our stresses away. Sunday, we hit Costco, then our favorite new lunch spot, before they had to hit the road. We feel fortunate they're so close and we're looking forward to many more visits together during our time in Canada!
