More May Happenings...

Here are a few more highlights from May...

Each child at Wyatt's school gets to select a "Birthday Book" for the library. It's a book they love to read and then they get to present it to the library on BTV, the school news station. Hadley, Tate and I went to watch him. Since his birthday is in August, he got to present his book in May before school is out. He selected The Nutcracker, one of his favorites!

Oops. Too bad they spelled his name wrong.
We celebrated Wyatt's big play "Pirates and Princesses" with special pirate cupcakes. He did a great job up on stage. It was his first play and we were so proud of him. We could hear his voice belting out the songs above the kids. It was great practice for the Mexico performance at school.

Checking on our baby bird eggs.
Getting the LAST cast sawed off. Really loud and not fun, but glad to be done!!

Farmers Market

My pet project I've been working on for the past 6 months has finally been launched. Our town now has its own Farmers Market! A group of girlfriends and I have been working with the Priest at our church to recruit area farmers and organize a farmers market for our town. There are a ton of farmers in the area and we all have a passion for local, healthy food so it just seemed like a good fit. We were pleasantly surprised by the response. We were hoping for 6-8 vendors and ended up with 25! Not only are there fruits and veggies, but also meat, poultry, eggs, pastries, milk, prepared foods, local artisans and even live music! Another girlfriend and I have been using our marketing backgrounds to manage the website, facebook page, work with local reporters to get news stories and advertise the market. It's been fun to use my background to work on this project. Each week, the kids and I head to the market to load up on groceries for the week!

!!Viva Mexico!!

Wyatt had his big play about Mexico this week. The kids practice for over a month, rehearsing lines and songs. There are 8 first grade classes, so they split them up and half go together in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. There were close to 100 kids, up on stage together, with no adults. They were belting out their tunes, in unison and on key, while doing the hand motions. I was so impressed. The music teacher did an incredible job directing the kids. They were so proud and Wyatt did an amazing job. Each child has a small speaking part, Wyatt's was "The Star is Green" and he nailed it. We were so proud. We had a fiesta at home that night to celebrate!

The show was 45 minutes long. I don't have the time it takes to better edit these and get them in some kind of order. I just wanted to share some highlights from the show. We loved it so much and we've still got the songs stuck in our heads, even Tate!

Take that, Pinterest!

Pin this baby!! I've been busying myself with little indoor projects. Once the weather warms up, we'll be back at work on the yard and outside playing with the kids. We've been working on gallery walls, striping the walls and painting the last of the rooms and tackling replacing a few of the lights. Hadley and I painted some pots for our flowers and she made a special one for her new cactus, "Toby". I even made a little wall art for the laundry room. If you can't find what you like, just make it!

The artist hard at work...
I love this picture of our family. Dayven is the giant one and I'm the one yelling.
Toby's new home. The best "pet" ever!
