The Birthday Celebration

Wyatt's birthday fell on a weekday so we had two celebrations. Friday he had opened a couple of presents when he woke up. I had some helium balloons waiting for him so it would seem a little more festive. Since he seemed to bounce back quickly from the surgery, I sent him to school.

Saturday we headed out for our family celebration at Idlewild, a nearby amusement park. It's an old fashioned type park, built in the 1920's and really not modernized much. It was the perfect park for young kids and almost the entire thing was shaded, which was great on a hot day. They had this great area called the "Storybook Village" that the kids loved. The paths wound around through the forest with all these little scenes from famous nursery rhymes and childrens' stories. It was their favorite part. They also had a train ride and trolley that takes you through Mr Roger's Neighborhood.  They had some kiddie rides - they liked the bumper cars but Wyatt wimped out on the airplane ride after waiting in line so Hadley went alone. She loved it but she wasn't happy about some girl sitting in the back of her plane. They had a live Thomas the Train show going on and we waited in line to get our picture with Sir Topham Hat but the kids were too scared when it was their turn. Wyatt yelled "He doesn't even talk!" (he didn't) and ran away and Hadley quickly followed, leaving me standing there poised to take a picture. We didn't even make it to the Soak Zone, the water park area. It was a great day and we'll definitely be going back at some point.

We were all tired from a long day so we ordered pizza for dinner, had cake and opened presents. Of course, he said it was the "Best! Birthday! EVER!"

Waiting our turn...
Nope, can't do it. We'll just watch him from a safe distance.

Good thing only family is eating this thing!
He let Hadley help him open his presents.
