Whew, what a week!

Is it over yet? Since Nana and Poppy left, we jumped back into things full swing. This week was action packed with girls' night out, a field trip, scrapbooking and even a birthday party.

On Thursday, I chaperoned Wyatt's class field trip to the International Children's Festival. It's an annual event with a ton of fun things for the kiddos to do. We got to attend a performance of some of the Eric Carle books, such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Mixed Up Chameleon. It was a "black light theatre", done entirely with the lights out and glowing puppets manned by unseen puppeteers. The effect was really cool and the kids loved it. Of course, it was a special treat to ride the school bus too!

We attended a birthday party of a good friend from school on Saturday. They had rented a giant bouncy house for the kids to jump in. Since the birthday boy's mom is a good friend of mine, I stayed to hang out. For at the least the first hour of the party, all the kids were inside playing in the toy room, while the mom tried desperately to coax them outside. Typical kids! She served the cupcakes, which they were all super excited to decorate, but then only took one or two bites. Then every single one of them raised their hand when asked if they wanted a hot dog. While her husband was outside grilling them, they all took off to play again. When he came in with the platter of dogs, the kids were no where to be found. Isn't that always how it is!? Of course, they took it all in stride and we had a good laugh over it. They did finally make it outside and they all had a blast in that bouncy house.

I went to a crop night with some girlfriends to work on Hadley's baby album. We worked hard until midnight. I had a pretty productive night and really cranked some pages out.  I know she'll enjoy looking at it some day and I'm glad I decided to do it old school instead of going digital. It's turning out really cute.

We went to brunch with some friends on Sunday, then Dayven took Wyatt to his first movie.  They went to see Kung Fu Panda 2. We weren't sure how Wyatt would do and if he would last the entire movie. He LOVED it and almost had a hard time containing his excitement. Dayven said he was talking loudly during the previews, singing along and pointing out familiar characters, loud enough for half the theatre to hear. Dayven had to remind him to use his inside voice many times, but that concept was quickly forgotten. Luckily it was a Sunday afternoon and the theatre was filled with kids so he wasn't the only loud one. They shared a popcorn and watched the entire movie. It was a good dry run for Cars 2, which comes out in a few weeks.

We've had some pretty decent weather lately so we're outside soaking up as much as we can. The kids love riding their bikes around the cul-de-sac. Hadley insists on doing everything her big brother does. Once he puts on his helmet and gets ready to ride, she says "Me too, mommy! I ride too!" and she does. She's got the pedaling concept down, but she can't figure out the steering and runs straight into the bushes if I'm not paying attention. I'm sure it won't be long until she's got it down!

On the news the other night a big wind came up (forgot where it was) and the bouncy house with all the kids blew away. It showed it up in the air and rolling. A lot of bumped kids but they were all okay when it came to rest again on the ground. Parents were horified watching it with their kids inside.
