They'll be comin' around the mountain

We're back from a little three day get-a-way. Wyatt and I decided to tag along with Dayven on his golf outing business trip to Fernie, a cute little ski town in British Columbia. Our friends Nate, Dorothy and their little boy, Josh, joined us since Nate also had "business" in the area. We stayed at a charming lodge, right at the base of the ski hill. It was considerably colder in the mountains, but it was still beautiful and we're glad we had a chance to see the area. We had fun exploring town, taking a dip in the (heated) pool and even got in a little hike on Friday before it was time to head home.

Dorothy and I - the Lizard Creek Lodge, where we stayed, in the background. The boys had a ball at the beautiful park in downtown Fernie - you can see the mountains in all directions.
In the summer months, they allow people to hike and mountain bike on the ski runs. It was steep in some spots, but Dayven was doing the "heavy" lifting. The view was gorgeous up there!
Wyatt loves trains, so we stopped at the Garden Railway, a special train store with an entire city that has 20 different European-style trains. The attention to detail was amazing.
