Summer is officially here. Friday was the longest day of the year. The sun didn't dip below the horizon until after 11pm and even then it never really got "dark". You can hear the birds beginning to chirp around 3:30am and it's broad daylight again by 5am. We've had to adjust our sleeping habits a bit and now have room darkening shades on all the bedrooms. I find myself looking at my watch a lot since I can no longer rely on my body clock.
It's been a busy week for us, starting with a trip to Fort McMurray, to visit our friends Charlie, Marta and Aniela. On Wednesday, Marta and I drove back down to Edmonton with the kids and the boys headed down later that evening after their meetings. We had fun the next few days just hanging out.
Dorothy, Marta and I left the men folk to tend to the kiddos and had a much needed girl's night with dinner, followed by the Sex and the City movie.
Friday, we took advantage of the gorgeous weather and grilled out. Charlie's parents were in town preparing for their big RV trip to Jasper and Banff so they came over as well. We relaxed on the deck and even built a little fire, although it was a bit warm, and the kids amused themselves in the fountain. They were so soaked, we had to change their clothes twice!

Saturday, we attended an afternoon birthday party for Dorothy and Nate's son, Josh. The kids ran around in the backyard playing, while we relaxed on the deck. We all have a bit later bedtime in the summer since everyone is taking advantage of the beautiful weather and the daylight. It was fun, but we finally decided to call it a night, sin
ce Wyatt was wiped out and Dayven had an early tee time the next morning.
